TIME's Best 100 Novels since 1923

Regular readers of this blog (short in number, but long on taste, haha) may remember a guest post by Jane Minett a while ago with a review of The Help.  She's just pointed me to TIME's list of the best 100 novels since TIME was launched in 1923.   It was picked by TIME's book critics Lev Grossman and Richard Lacayo.  For me, it's a mixed blessing.  Thanks for the great recommendations. But no thanks for making me feel more behind on my reading than before.

Here they are, in alphabetical order, with links to their original reviews:

For many of these novels there is also a review on Amazon.com that gave the book only one star. See this amusing collection.

Cute. I clicked to the link and disagreed with many of the remarks. On the other hand, there are a few books on there that I personally didn't much enjoy.

Don’t feel bad about not having read some of the classics, you still have plenty of time.
Nobody will regret not having read “Moby Dick” or “War and Peace” once they’re dead. But when you are 80 and alive and there is nothing good left to be read, you might regret having rushed through all these volumes earlier.
Take your time throughout life with good books: http://andreasmoser.wordpress.com/2011/10/15/take-your-time-with-good-books/
